Test using the RSS Feed Chicklet in IE toolbar

The feed from this blog to iGoogle still hasn't updated since yesterday. However I added a feed from this blog using the RSS Chicklet on the toolbar from IE and it posted the new feeds. This is a test to see how long this post gets posted in the IE RSS feed.

RSS feeds by feedburner

I'm not sure how well feedburner or this blog is working in the RSS feed. The email post or pinged post is not showing up in my feed to iGoogle. Or is it me with changing the domain name to blog.netmajic.com. Now I've taken the domain redirect out of blogspot. This is a test to see if this post gets thru.

How Social Marketing Works

Social Media sites encourage socializing. People socialize. Customers socialize. They research, ask questions, review, recommend, give opinions, state desires, talk about the industry and, most of all, talk about your company, products and services.

Are you listening? Are you giving them accurate information? Are you answering their questions? Are you socializing? Are you willing to ignore them or, worse yet, let your competition answer for you? Now are you too proud to Tweet?

How Search Engines Work

Search engines want your website to be found for the correct search phrase.

Your goal is to “Be Found” on the most popular search engines for the correct phrase your potential customers are using to seek your services.

The current goal for companies is to be found on Google’s, Yahoo’s and BING’s First Page.

Search engine service is a competitive business.  Search engines use proprietary software to crawl the web constantly evaluating websites and placing them according to their own secret formulas.  These proprietary software programs are called “Spiders”.  When the Spider visits your site, it is looking for the keywords that describe your business.  The Spider also finds links to your website from other websites which currently Spiders count as your popularity.  Keywords and inbound links are called “Spider Food” in the industry.

The website with the most “Spider Food” wins and places higher with that Search Engine called  your “Page Rank”.

Being found on the Internet is entirely in your control.

45 minutes later - RSS feed appears

I needed to refresh my browser window with iGoogle to see the previous post. Now I will see if I can ping this one immediately. 308pm

Continue testing the speed of Feedburner's RSS feed

I am testing how long it takes Feedburner to update my iGoogle aggregator page after making a new blog post. It is 215pm CST. Their documentation states 30 minutes. You can ping your post if it needs to go out immediately. I will try that next once this goes up.
